Welcome While the origins of the tradition are not fully understood, the beauty of a handpainted oar is known to all who have seen them and aspired to earn the right to one. I came to paint trophy oars by chance while pursuing my other rowing interests and now I offer my art to all via this website. It is a hobby that has grown out of control as I have been asked by more and more rowers on the banks of the Yarra River to create a work for them. It is not a business for commercial gain, rather a cottage industry born of a desire to share my skill in rowing with all who might appreciate it. I have even designed many rowing related t-shirts which are sold around the world and I now make rowing safety lights. Please use this site for not simply organising to purchase an oar. Instead use it as a window into the history and art of the trophy oar and the other areas of rowing competition and history that lay behind its origins and future. I hope you enjoy your visit and feel free to contact me with any ideas, comments or suggestions on what is a new and unproven website. Jonny PS - I am not taking any orders at present. We have just moved overseas for work and there is not enough room in my tiny Hong Kong apartment to fit an oar. I will consider any job, but it must be either very exciting or very expensive!
